Walnut Shell is used where the base material must not be deeply cut.
Organic or plastic media is loaded into a suction or pressure cabinet.
Pressure and standoff are kept moderate to protect the substrate.
Media breaks down paint or carbon without warping soft metals or molds.
Usable media is recycled; dust and broken grains are discarded.
The part is cleaned of residue and checked for damage-free stripping.
Walnut shell abrasive is a hard and fibrous substance formed from crushed walnut shells. It is the most frequent form of soft abrasive used in industry. Because of its high durability, the walnut shell is now commonly used to blast clean and polish soft metals, glass, fibreglass, wood, plastic, and stone.
Walnut Shell is used to polish gems and jewellery in both tumbling and vibratory applications. Walnut Shell media can also be used to deburr and deflash moulding, casting, and electrical parts. Walnut Shell is ground to a variety of sizes, from coarse to super fine, providing you precise control over the desired finish. Walnut Shell, like other soft media, cleans and eliminates debris from surfaces without hurting the underlying substance.
The hard fibrous substance generated from powdered or crushed walnut shells is known as walnut shell blasting media. Walnut shell blasting grit is a soft abrasive media that is exceptionally resilient, angular, and multi-faceted when used as a blasting media. To prevent inhalation health problems, walnut shell blasting grit is an excellent replacement for sand (free silica).
Cleaning with walnut shell blasting media is especially successful when the surface of the substrate behind its coat of paint, dirt, grease, scale, carbon, and so on must stay intact or otherwise unaffected. As a soft aggregate, walnut shell blasting grit can be used to remove foreign matter or coatings off surfaces without etching, scratching, or marring cleansed regions.
There are various advantages to using Walnut Shell media. It is non-toxic, environmentally friendly, and has no health or environmental risks. It protects gel coats, bases, and primers while removing paint topcoats. Walnut Shell Grit may clean surfaces without damaging or pitting the underlying material.
The Walnut shell media is also long-lasting, reusable, and biodegradable, reducing finishing operation cycle time. Because the Walnut shell in India is silica-free, it retains micro finishes and prevents silicosis.
When handled properly, walnut shell in India is softer than sand and retains the integrity of the underlying structure. Excellent for removing graffiti, cleaning engines, and soft metals, prepping metal for paint, and restoring historical antiques.
Walnut shells can be used as a blasting media for sand blasting machine operation. This is because walnut shells are hard and durable enough to effectively remove surface coatings and debris, but are also softer than most other blasting media, making them less likely to damage the underlying surface. Walnut shells are also a renewable and environmentally friendly blasting media option, as they are biodegradable and do not produce hazardous waste or air pollution.
However, it is important to note that walnut shells may not be suitable for all types of sandblasting applications, and the size and shape of the walnut shell particles can impact the effectiveness of the blasting process.
